Omemee Factory: Possible Uses

Old Regal Stationary Building Potential Employment Opportunity ?

Editorial-Suzanne Sholer
Regal Stationary was the main employer in Omemee for many years, but since they closed up shop in Omemee, the building has not realized its full potential as a place of employment. What ideas do you have that could help increase the number of jobs in Omemee using this huge space. Please don’ t suggest a business type we already have in the village, as that is self defeating, and just causes another business to close.
In St. Thomas Ontario, they have seized the bull by the proverbial horns and have announced the following competition, which i came across while reading a discussion on the Dragon’s Den Facebook page. Here’s what they’re doing in St. Thomas:

ABOUT STIR

The St. Thomas Industrial Revolution (STIR) was formed in 2010 when a group of private sector representatives decided to tackle St. Thomas Ontario’s industrial woes. With so many factories closing, this private group decided that something had to be done to bring St. Thomas Ontario back to its manufacturing glory.
STIR is a group of private business leaders and members of the community who want to encourage St. Thomas Ontario’s economic development and celebrate the City’s manufacturing and industrious nature! Our vision is for St. Thomas Ontario to become the best manufacturing community in North America and maybe even the world!
We have the skills, manpower, and factories right here! STIR is dedicated to helping manufacturers in own backyards or those from around the world to be the very best at what they do and do it right here in St. Thomas Ontario. From having the next generation of food processing equipment, to clean tech and automotive manufacturing, to advanced automation, to better widgets – you name it, and we’ll make here!
Perhaps we could do something similar. What ideas do you have?
You can find more information about STIR at http://www.stirchallenge.ca/
