Bridge Tips

There are many free online resources available for both Bridge Newbies and seasoned players. This week's online resource review looks at FREE resources offered by Richard Pavlicek, Grand Life Master, of the American Contract Bridge League.

Bridge Basics

If you are new to Bridge, there are some excellent free online resources that can help you quickly pick up Bridge Basics, but there is nothing like first-hand experience to help it all come together.
Richard Pavlicek, Grand Life Master, in the American Contract Bridge League, offers this advice about learning to play Bridge:

At the outset, a student should learn a little bit of everything rather than try to master any particular area. This allows bridge to be played and enjoyed almost immediately. Only after gaining experience should a student pursue the finer points necessary to become a skillful player.
Mr. Pavlicek, winner of 11 North American championships, has made his Bridge textbook Bridge Basics  available as a FREE online resource. A fun, entertaining book peppered with cartoons and diagrams, Bridge Basics has a great introductory lesson which gives an overall view of the game. You can find “Learn to Play BridgeHere. Richard also has a humorous Interactive Bridge for Morons Quiz you may enjoy. Click Here for some fun.

Bridge Puzzles

Perhaps you’re looking to sharpen your Bridge skills, if so the above author, Richard Pavlicek, also offers many Bridge puzzles, and quizzes on his site: RP Bridge One unique feature of this site is the themed music you can listen to while exploring the site. Be sure to click the musical note at the top of each page.
Check back each week for reviews of more online resources to help you enjoy your Bridge game.
