jugRemember eagerly awaiting your turn for Show-and-Tell Day? Here’s your chance to relive some of that excitement, at Omemee Historical Society’s Show and Tell! What wonderful family items do you have to share?

Sunday, June 12th, from 2 to 4 p.m. Omemee and District Historical Society is hosting a Show-and-Tell, and you’re invited! This Historical Society meets the second Sunday of each month at Coronation Hall, 1 King Street West, in the center of Omemee. Each meeting has a different theme, and the Historical Society always has a wealth of information on hand about the history of Omemee Area. They even have a few copies of the reprint of C. Hillier WIlliamson’s book on the History of Omemee, as well as the beautiful Walker’s Guide to Omemee - The Pigeon Town.

Community Involvement

The Historical Society actively looks for ways to encourage the participation of others. In April, they held a writing contest for students, in May-organizations were invited to showcase their memorabilia, this month's Show-And-Tell is meant to encourage everyone to get involved. What treasures will you bring?

Omemee Pioneer Days Plans

’The Historical Society will be especially interested in seeing antique kitchen items, as we are putting together a display for Omemee Pioneer Days about Kitchens of Yester-Year,’ noted Marlyne Fisher-Heasman, President of the Omemee and District Historical Society. Marlyne added: ‘We would be very grateful for loans of any items that are not made of glass. Glass items really are great treasures, and would be better kept in people's homes.'
Kitchens of Yester–Year will be on display on the stage at the Coronation Hall during the Omemee Lioness Breakfast on July 2nd, and until the end of the Coronation Hall Birthday Party, which wraps up at 3 p.m. the same day. If you have a kitchen item, you would be willing to loan for the display, please bring it out to the Omemee Historical Society Meeting on June 12th, or contact Marlyne at 705-799-5767.
Pioneer days will be especially busy for Omemee Historical Society, as they are also hosting the birthday party for the Coronation Hall, which turns 100 this year. The birthday party will include cake, ice-cream, and party souvenirs. Watch for more details to follow. If you would like to lend a hand with any of these fun events, be sure to contact Marlyne right away!
