Remembrance Day Services Omemee Legion ~

Omemee Remembrance Day Services and Dinner~

Remembrance Day became very poignant for our community after not one,but two former local students were killed in Afghanistan. Today while thousands across Canada remember those fallen in previous wars, and we thank the Veterans who remain with us for their sacrifices,Omemee Legion Branch 497 will have a parade from the Legion at 10:30 to the Cenotaph at Coronation Hall for a ceremony, and the laying of wreaths at 11 am.Later this evening, there will be a Veteran’s Dinner on the Godon T. Bocock Memorial Hall at the Omemee Legion with tickets available at the door for $20 per person. The following photos are from the dedication of the Omemee Memorial Garden at Omemee Legion in Honour of the memory of former students Cpl. Mark Robert McLaren MMV and Pte. Michael Bruce Freeman.

If you are unable to attend the Remembrance Day Service in your area, please participate in the 2-minute “Wave of Silence” on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11, 2011.  Please stop for 2 minutes at 11:00 am to pay special tribute to the Canadian men and women who gave their lives in war to defend our Country.  The wave starts on the east coast at 11:00 am and proceeds through each time zone to British Columbia.
