Peterborough Lakefield Police Spring Seatbelt Blitz Bags 32! 
Peterborough Lakefield Police started their Spring Seatbelt blitz May 1st.Officers will be setting up spot checks throughout the City of Peterborough, checking for seatbelt use.
Officers issued 32 tickets on the 1st day.
The blitz will continue until the 12th of May.
The fine for failing to wear a seatbelt is $240.00 for driver and passengers.
The driver will receive 2 demerit points for not wearing a seatbelt, and also for not ensuring anyone under 16 is wearing their seatbelt. Increased demerit points will increase your insurance costs, and could even lead to the loss of your license, so buckle up!
