BOAT OPERATOR ARRESTed
Ontario Provincial Police recently arrested the operator of a vessel for an alcohol related offence.
On July 2, 2012 the OPP were contacted in regards to a boat that appeared to be in distress. A marine unit from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP attended and approached the vessel which was on Balsam Lake.
The two occupants had been ejected from the vessel, causing serious injury. Both parties were transported from the scene via ambulance to Ross Memorial Hospital.
Further investigation resulted in the officer determining that the operator of the vessel had been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Stephan KALCHOVSKI, 27 years of age, of Toronto was arrested and charged with operating a vessel while having more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood, causing an accident with bodily harm contrary to the Criminal Code.
