EXCESSIVE SPEED LEADS TO STUNT DRIVING CHARGE
A Peterborough resident faces a stunt driving charge after being stopped by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
October 4, 2012 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP stopped a motor vehicle that was being operated on Highway 7 near Loop Line, in the former Emily Township, at a speed in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.
At the time of the stop the vehicle was travelling 137 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. As a result of the stop, the vehicle driver, Stephen KITCHEN, 49 years of age, was charged with stunt driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused will appear in court in Lindsay on December 11, 2012.
