Omemee Ice Warning -No Ice Safe!

OPP REMIND CITIZENS THAT NO ICE IS SAFE ICE

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) –The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the citizens of the City of Kawartha Lakes that no ice is safe ice.

An OPP officer responded to a call when several young persons were observed on the ice near the bridge in Omemee.  With the fluctuation in temperature and the unusual weather conditions the ice presents a concern for the safety of anyone walking or playing on the ice surface.

The OPP would like to remind everyone to be cautious around the waterways, whether on foot, snowmobile or other mode of transportation.
