Some un-Christmas-like weather for the first few days of winter. Winter has officially arrived, but mother nature is not paying attention to the calendar.
Milder weather will settle into the region over the next few days. Some patchy rain is likely today across Southern Ontario as a developing low pressure system over the American Midwest tracks towards the Great Lakes.
Some freezing rain is occurring this morning over parts of Eastern Ontario before the milder conditions arrive there later in the day. A freezing rain warning is in effect for this area.
Mild temperatures, rain, fog, and maybe even a few thunderstorms are expected on Christmas Eve. Temperatures should reach the high single digits in many areas and some locales could even nudge into the low or even mid teens. A few high temperature records for the day may be broken.
Very strong winds are likely to develop during the night of Christmas Eve across Southern Ontario. Wind warnings may be required as the event draws nearer.
enOn Christmas Day, mother nature will offer a meagre attempt at a white Christmas in many areas as the disturbance over the Great Lakes intensifies and heads into Northern Ontario. Cooler temperatures, strong winds and some wet flurries are likely although Don'T expect much if any accumulation for a white Christmas.
Environment Canada will continue to monitor this developing weather for the Christmas period and issue statements and any necessary warnings.
