Help Celebrate Pontypool Fire Station Grand Opening!
PONTYPOOL – Nearly two years to the day after Council awarded the $1.1 million contract for a new fire station in Pontypool, firefighters, officials and the public will celebrate its official grand opening on Sunday, October 25.“This is a great day for our firefighters and for the residents of Pontypool and surrounding area,” said Kawartha Lakes Fire Chief Mark Pankhurst. “This facility has been a long time coming.”The new 6,000 square foot facility features three fire truck bays, including two drive-thru bays, as well as an ambulance bay, kitchen facilities and expanded training facility on the second floor.
“This facility will ensure our firefighters and paramedics have a much-needed state of the art facility in a key geographic location for fire and paramedic response,” said Chief Pankhurst. “This is definitely a facility we can all be very proud of as a community.”The grand opening is scheduled for 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 25 with tours of the station from 11 a.m. to noon, an official ceremony from 12 to 12:30 p.m. and then additional tours and auto extrication demonstration from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.
“We really want the community to come out and celebrate this new facility with us,” said Chief Pankhurst. “This new fire hall will serve the Pontypool community for years to come and will be a great addition to the south part of Kawartha Lakes.”Will you be attending the grand opening on Sunday?
