Kawartha Lakes State of Emergency Continues!
Kawartha Region Conservation Authority Flood Warning remains in effect for shoreline areas of Balsam, Cameron, Sturgeon and Pigeon Lakes.Shoreline residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves and their property and be prepared to evacuate should the water levels continue to rise.
Keep away from all waterways including rivers, creeks, streams and ditches as fast moving water levels can rise quickly. Do not try to cross any waterway.
Sandbags are available at the Burnt River, Coboconk, Bobcaygeon and Emily Depots.
New Kawartha Lakes Road Closure Added:
Mitchell Lake Causeway between CKL Rd. 48 (Portage Rd.) and Robinson Ave is closed.See more Road Road Closure Information Here.
Black River Watershed Flooding Update:
There is still an MNR Flood Warning in effect for the Black River. Gull River Watershed There is still an MNR Flood Warning in effect for the Gull River. Although water levels have temporarily stabilized there is still potential for the river to rise as water continues to work its way through the system. A reception centre has been set up at the Coboconk Legion at 2916 Rd. 48 just west of Hwy. 35. It will be open from 8am – 8pm and the Red Cross is on site.If you feel in immediate danger at any time please call 911. Anyone needing assistance should contact the city's call centre at 705-324-9411 during daytime hours of operation from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After 4:30 p.m. please call the after hours municipal emergency service provider at 1-877-885-7337.
Burnt Rver Flood Warning Cancelled
Burnt River The Burnt River has peaked and the MNR Flood Warning has been cancelled. Operations are stabilizing along the Burnt River and public works, firefighters and OPP remain on patrol. Roads in the Burnt River area are being assessed and repairs are being made where possible. Roads may be opened later this week when it has been determined they are safe. The reception centre at the Burnt River Community Centre is now closed.Residents will be advised when it is safe to return home.
Flooded? Boil Your Water!
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR) advises that residents on well water affected by flooding should boil water for one minute at a rolling boil or obtain alternate potable water.--
