Pigeon Lake Shoreline Residents Make Evacuation Plans!
A state of emergency remains in effect for Kawartha Lakes due to flooding. Kawartha Conservation has a Flood Warning in effect for the shoreline areas of Balsam, Cameron, Sturgeon and Pigeon Lakes. Shoreline residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves and their property, to monitor water levels closely, and contact municipality should any threat of flooding develop. Sandbags remain available at the Bobcaygeon, Emily and Coboconk depots.Questions?

An MNR Flood Warning remains in effect for the Gull River system. The Trent-Severn Waterway officials are estimating it will take at least two weeks to see considerable improvement in water levels on this system. No flow adjustments are planned for the downstream portion of the Gull River today. Watershed flow will be reduced at some dams upstream in order to provide some relief to flooded areas. The Trent-Severn Waterway adjusts their water control structures in the best way to mitigate flooding within the entire Trent River system.Kawartha Lakes Flooding - Health Information
Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is reminding residents to wear proper protective clothing when cleaning any properties impacted by flooding. As people may encounter flood waters contaminated with sewage or chemicals, they should wear long sleeve shirts, coveralls or long pants, boots, and gloves. Any clothing used should be laundered separately. If cleaning or removing mould, residents should wear personal protective equipment such as gloves and respiratory protection (e.g. minimum N-95 disposable respirator). The application to the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program is being prepared. Homeowners in flood affected areas are encouraged to take photographs of all flood damaged items before discarding them, and to fill out the private property damage assessment form available at www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca. City of Kawartha Lakes has set up a trust fund to help facilitate private donations for disaster relief. Donations will be accepted at all Municipal Service Centres or can be made at the Lindsay Royal Bank, to the Disaster Relief Trust Account.
