Hydro One Power Outage Affecting Over 1500 Omemee Area Homes

Prepare for Four Hour Sunday Morning Power Outage

Sunday May 15, approximately 1529 Hydro One customers will be without power as Hydro crews work to repair extensive damage caused by end of April storms.
A spokesperson for Hydro One noted: “The damage caused by the storms the weekend of April 28th is the worst we’ve had since the ice storms in Quebec several years ago.”
Customers in the area shown in the map below, will want to prepare for this four hour outage, which will start at 6 a.m. and run until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

The map below is a screen shot of the Power Outage Map on the Hydro One website. The Planned Power outages will stretch from Southwest of Bethany at Porter Road, east to Highway 7 by Cavan.

Preparedness Tips

While a four hour blackout is small potatoes, compared to the length of time some people have been without power, there are still things you’ll want to think about it you are going to be home Sunday morning. Going to use the washroom when you get up? Better stockpile some water. Planning on attending church? Make sure your alarm has battery backup. Planning on cooking breakfast? Better get that fire pit ready! Do you usually chat with relatives Saturday on the phone? Better let Grandma know what is happening ahead of time.
