All Ages Eco Water Video Contest Win Fab Prizes!

Canadian Wildlife Federation is celebrating Rivers to Oceans Week in 2012 with their Water’s Worth It! video contest. The grand prize is $2,000 in funding towards a water-conservation project in the winner’s area. The top 10 finalists will receive a one-year subscription to the CWF magazine of their choice either : Canadian Wildlife, Biosphère or WILD magazine. Just send a one-minute video telling what is so special about your local body of water and why it’s worth conserving. This contest is open to all residents of Canada of any age. Entries will be accepted until June 30, 2012,after which there will be onlone voting for your favourite video,so be sure to let usd know about your entry,so we can help spread the word.

Omemee Student Enters Canadian Dermatology Association Video Competition VOTE NOW!

Your Vote puts Omemee on the Map!

Here's an opportunity to put Omemee on the map! Canadian Dermatology Association issued a challenge to Canadian teens to create a video 30 seconds or less telling how they protect their skin from the sun's rays. Elizabeth Sholer,grade 9 student at I.E. Weldon School took up the challenge with this entry in the contest. in Elizabeth's entry,she rapidly runs down a checklist of things you can do to protect your skin from the sun,then tells why protecting your skin from the sun is extremely important to her. Elizabeth's entry is the only entry from City of Kawartha Lakes.

Only 100 tickets will be sold for this special 'Premiere' screening of the film by Jonathan Demme. Youngtown Museum, headline sponsor of the event is generously giving each ticket holder $2 off admission to Yountown Museum the day of the show-June 23rd or the following day-Sunday June 24th. Children aged 12 years and under are invited to enter the Library’s “Dog Colouring Contest”. Pick up a colouring sheet at your local library branch and enter the draw for a chance to win one of the great prizes donated by Crayola Canada and the Humane Society. The deadline for entries is June 1st .

Peterborough Community Police, in cooperation with Kitchen Cabinet Solutions and Boston Pizza, are giving away free pizzas, $10 pizza coupons and $500 in free Blue Jays tickets supplied by FM 90.5, home of the Blue Jays.  
 
“All three companies shared in the costs of the tickets and prizes as a way to put a positive perspective on an important safety issue:  wearing your seatbelts” agreed business owners Lee Perry of Kitchen Cabinet Solutions, and Cory Luedtke of Boston Pizza, in a joint statement.
 
Today At 2 PM – See The First Driver Get Blue Jay Tickets And Pizza
It starts at 2 pm today at the corner of St. Mary’s and Goodfellow Road.  The first pair of Blue Jay tickets, and the first pizza will be given away to the first lucky driver who gets stopped during the Blitz with everyone in the vehicle buckled up.

Jays tickets, pizzas, and pizza coupons will be given away today through Saturday, during the remaining days of the Seatbelt Blitz; at random points in the city to randomly chosen drivers found with everyone in the vehicle buckled up.  The Peterborough Community Police stop 200-300 vehicles a day during the Blitz.
