 Omemee elementary students have sent paper butterflies to Mexico and supported butterfly migration project for several years. The David Suzuki Foundation, together with several eco-friendly partners are offering an opportunity for you to win a trip to Mexico to observe the butterfly migration in person.

Like a lot of people in Canada, monarch butterflies spend the winter in the sunny south! Want to join them?
Monarch butterflies are great travellers. Every autumn, hundreds of millions of them leave Canada on their migratory journey to Mexico. It takes them a few weeks to complete the 4,000-kilometre trip.
Enter the David Suzuki Foundation’s Monarchs in Mexico contest. You could win a trip for two to Mexico and a tour of magnificent monarch butterfly sanctuaries!

Monarchs in Mexico Contest Prize

The prize includes:
Ten days in Mexico— February 16 to 25, 2017
Visits to historic central Mexico City, colonial towns and national parks
The awe-inspiring spectacle of millions of butterflies in flight at the El Rosario and Sierra Chincua sanctuaries, part of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
The monarch butterfly is now considered an endangered species. This is a once-in-a-lifetime

How to enter? Complete the entry ballot and hit “Enter me in the contest!”
The contest is open to permanent residents of Canada, aged 18 or older.
The trip takes place from February 16 to 25, 2017.
The prize includes:
✔ Return flight (economy class) for two to Mexico City, from the winner’s city of residence
✔ A 10-day organized tour for two in Mexico, including accommodations
The prize does not include:
✔ Transportation from the winner’s home to the airport
✔ Meals during the trip
✔ Travel insurance (mandatory)
✔ Tips (not mandatory, but strongly recommended)
✔ Optional organized activities during your stay
