Janetville Woman Making Court Appearance!
Watch Those Happy Hour Drivers!
Impaired drivers –we usually think about them being on the road after closing time, but a recent RIDE program showed drunk drivers can be on the road at any time. Drinking and driving, especially at holiday times is a large problem in rural areas, where there are fewer alternate transportation methods. Partiers are cautioned to 'think before they drink',and either stick to festive mocktails,or budget a taxi ride home into their party plans.
Impaired Drivers Kill Too Many
MADD Canada estimates there are about 3.7-4.4 deaths per day in Canada caused by impairment.Does drunk driving make you mad? Then MADD needs you! In 2002,Carol Ryan's husband Terry, a Durham Region Police Service officer, was senselessly killed by a drunk driver. This spurred Carol's involvement with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Unfortunately, not enough volunteers were available to assist in getting the word out about this important issue. Lindsay Post recently reported the local MADD Chapter in Lindsay closed after Carol, the president, announced she was stepping down.
'I feel like I've done all I can with MADD,' Ryan told The Lindsay Post.
