Peterborough First Degree Murder Case -Woman Arrested -More Clues Sought!

Peterborough First Degree Murder Arrest!

At approximately 8 p.m. Thursday night (Aug. 2), 2012 police made an arrest in the homicide of George MacKenzie, 66, of Peterborough.
Dorothy Robin Groves, 40, of no fixed address in Peterborough, was arrested and charged with first degree murder. The accused and the victim were known to each other. She was held overnight in custody and will appear in court later today. Police continue to collect evidence at the scene at the victim’s residence in the area of Aylmer and McDonnel Street. The investigation is ongoing and will take several months to complete. Police are continuing to canvass the neighbourhood and are obtaining statements from witnesses. We will not be disclosing any evidence that will be part of the court proceedings including autopsy results or cause of death.
Victim Services has been involved with the family and they have been updated on the arrest.
Police are still asking for the community’s support and anyone who may have been in contact recently with either the deceased or the accused is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service at 705-876-1122 ext. 225.
