Central Ontario Beekeepers Holding Roast Beef Dinner!

October 24, 2014 Central Ontario Beekeepers Association will hold their fall meeting at  St. John's Anglican Church, Ida. RSVP by October 19. The meeting will feature:
Guest Speaker Pollination Biologist Susan Chan, a Honey Tasting Competition, auction, and Roast Beef Dinner.

Pollination Biologist Susan Chan will present an “Introduction to the Native Pollinators of Ontario”at the fall meeting. Susan, a beekeeper since the early 1980s has been practising ecological beekeeping for the past 5 years and has managed to weather the present storm of environmental and disease challenges to the health of honeybees with losses similar to the provincial average.
Susan Chan holds a B.Sc (Agriculture) from McGill, a M.Sc in Pollination Biology from the University of Guelph, and a B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario. This formal academic training coincides with her life-long commitment to integrating principles of environmental sustainability and respect for the natural world to the fields of agriculture and education. Central Ontario Beekeepers Honey Tasting Competition

Central Ontario Beekeepers are encouraged to bring a sample of their honey to the fall meeting, and the association will provide a 110 ml hexagonal jar for entry into the competition.

Central Ontario Beekeepers Auction

What types of things might you find at a beekeeping auction? Meeting participants may bring whatever they'd like to contribute to the auction. In the past, donations have included items such as baked goods, books and beekeeping equipment. Auction proceeds to COBA.

Central Ontario Beekeepers Dinner

The Roast Beef Dinner will begin at 6pm with the meeting starting at 7pm
 RSVP: Required by October 19th; secretary@centralontariobeekeepers.ca or 705-944-5996
Agenda Cost: $15 per person.
