Lions Recipe:Delicious Fruit Cake Nuggets!

New Fruit Cake Recipe Twist!

Fowlers Corners and District Lions Club will celebrate the Holiday Season by hosting their Happy Holidays Craft and Bake Sale for the third consecutive year. Lions are busy baking up a storm for this event. Here is just one of the many delicious recipes that will be available on the Lions Bake table during the sale November 19th. Baking goes fast at these sales, so you may want to call to reserve some baking in advance or make sure you are one of the early birds at the show.Lions Craft and Bake Sale Flyer Nov. 19, 2011 (1)

Lion Nancy Warren’s  Fruit Cake Nuggets Recipe:


  • 1-1/2 C    raisins
  • 1/4 C       rum
  • 2/3 C       all-purpose flour
  • 3/4  tsp.   baking  soda
  • 1 tsp.       ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp.    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp.    ground cloves
  • 2 Tbsp    softened butter
  • 1/4 C       brown sugar
  • 1              egg
  • 1 C          pecan halves 
  • 1/2 C       candied cherries
  • 1/2 C       candied  fruit

Fruit Cake Nuggets Recipe Directions

Soak the raisins in rum for at least 1 hour. Combine flour and soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. In another bowl, cream butter, brown sugar and egg. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in raisins, nuts and fruit. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees F. for 10 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. May freeze in heavy Ziploc bags with all air pressed out. Makes about 3 dozen.
