Unlocked Cell Phones Endanger Lives !

Unlocked Cell Phones Making 911 Hang Up Calls!

Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service's Dispatch Centre received 14 accidental 911 calls from  citizens, during the past 24 hours.  A large number of these calls were as a result of 'pocket dials' where 911 was contacted unintentionally. Each of these calls need to be addressed, making the dispatch centre exponentially busy.  Despite these calls turning out to be unfounded, they still require an immediate response by police, and tie up one of the Communicators until confirmation can be made whether or not the call is an emergency call.cell phones by idea Go

Your Assistance Requested

Police Communications staff coordinated 87 emergency calls for service during the past 24 hours, the majority of these matters involved multiple calls from our public pertaining to the same incident.  Peterborough Lakefield Community Police would like to ask the public's assistance in avoiding these unnecessary calls by locking cellular phones when not in use. The life you save may be your own. Image from
