Omemee Singer Songwriter Celebrates Birthday!

Happy Birthday Gary!

We won't say how old Gary is today, but if you should see him, be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday! Last night Gary astounded a full house at Omemee Christian Outreach with his guitar skills, and soulful Hank Snow style rendition of three songs including one he wrote himself.

Punch Press Removes Fingers

'I used to play guitar left-handed,' shared Gary with the audience, adding 'A punch press took off the fingers of my right hand at age 17, so I had to relearn to do everything right handed.'

Gary started his set of three songs with Kris Kristofferson's 'Why Me Lord?' Which struck a chord with many gathered there, and brought tears to many an eye. Gary's second song was inspired by an incident a few years ago.
'I went to a church,'Gary explained 'and they told me I didn't belong. I went home and wrote this song.'
Where some might have written a song of retaliation or anger, Gary instead wrote the beseeching 'Can I Walk With You Today?'

The final song in Gary's gospel trilogy had everyone clapping and singing along to his rendition of Hank Snow's 'I Saw the Light'. Gary's talents were a real blessing for the people gathered at the Monday Night dinner. Be sure to check out the featured video on Omemee Pigeon eFlyer, so you too can enjoy more of Gary's musical talents.
