DID YOU RECEIVE THIS OPP MESSAGE?

DAY THREE - DD CAMPAIGN OPP MESSAGING

569 Distracted Drivers Charged - Will You Be Number 570?

Today marks day three of the Ontario Provincial Police Districted Driving campaign and it appears that some people have received the message while others have not. The message is not in the form of a text, but is a key message that is simple - distracted driving is dangerous and last year, collisions involving distracted driving was determined to be the causal factor in the death of 83 people across the Province of Ontario on OPP patrolled roadways and highways.

Put Down the Phone! Leave it Alone!

Sadly, some people have not put down their hand-held telecommunications devices. In Central Region, 92 people have been charged in the first 2 days of this road safety initiative while across the province, 569 people have been charged under the distracted driving legislation. Motorists are being asked to “pdut down the phone and leave it alone” so if you haven’t received our message, here it is again. Please do your part in contributing to making OPP patrolled roads and highways safe and remember, keep both hands on the steering wheel and your eyes focused on the road ahead.
