Winter Control Command Centre Storm Preparations!

City of Kawartha Lakes Roads Operations Tracking Winter Storm!

A winter storm warning  is in effect for the City of Kawartha Lakes and surrounding areas. Rain is expected to change to freezing rain, snow and/or ice pellets late tonight or Thursday morning.

City of Kawartha Lakes Roads Operations Department is prepared and on standby for this event. The Winter Control Command Centre, along with patrol staff, will be tracking the event and reacting as needed to the precipitation and road operations.
Poor travel conditions are expected over the duration of this event. In particular, the Thursday morning commute may be challenging with icy conditions. While there is still some uncertainty as to the track of the storm and the extent of the cold air, the storm conditions are expected to remain in the Kawartha Lakes area into Friday with up 15 cm of precipitation forecast.
Motorists are asked to please drive cautiously if you must travel; if you don’t need to travel please stay home and allow time for the maintenance operations to be effective.
