Racers Charged!

DRIVERS STOPPED FOR EXCESSIVE SPEED
 
An officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver who was travelling at a speed in excess of 50km/h over the speed limit.
 
On June 30, 2012 the officer was patrolling on Pigeon Lake Road near Lilac Road, within the City of Kawartha Lakes when the accused was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.  The officer stopped the vehicle which had been travelling at 155 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone and charged the driver.  
 
As a result of the police investigation John MORRISON, 23 years of age, of the City of Kawartha Lakes was charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
 
On July 1, 2012 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP was patrolling on Highway 35 near Lifford Road, in the former Manvers Township, when the accused was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.  The officer stopped the vehicle which had been travelling at 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone and charged the driver.  
 
As a result of the police investigation Antonina ZUPO, 33 years of age, of Stouffville was charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
 
The accused will appear in court in Lindsay on August 14, 2012.
