Milk Allergies? Avoid This Protein Bar!
Protein Bar May Kill You!
Ottawa, May 25, 2013 - Vega® Sport 60 g Chocolate Coconut Natural Plant-based Protein Bar with Lot Code 12296C UPC 8 38766 10830 8 and a Best By Date of 19-NOV-13 are being recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency aka CIFA and Sequel Naturals Ltd.These protein bars have been distributed nationally.
CFIA and Sequel Naturals Ltd. are warning people with allergies to milk not to consume the Vega® Sport brand Protein Bar shown below, as the affected product contains milk which is not declared on the label. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk, already there has been one reported allergic reaction.
The distributor, Sequel Naturals Ltd., Burnaby, BC, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace, and CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
