City of Kawartha Lakes issued an advisory that the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) will be flushing the watermains during the time period of May 1st to June 11th 2013. Cleaning will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
While Bobcaygeon watermains will be flushed during the entire month of May, rural areas near Omemee will only be marginally affected. Rural areas affected by this flushing include in our area include: Janetville- May 16 and Omemee- June 04.
Please note specified dates may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
The flushing of water mains is necessary to remove sediment that gradually deposits in the pipes. There may be brief periods when tap water becomes cloudy or discoloured. To clear water lines, simply let your cold water tap run until the water flows clear. Please check your drinking, cooking and laundry water before using. Also, there may be temporary pressure fluctuations during watermain flushing.
