Omemee Man Mistakes Road for Race Track!

An Omemee man was charged with racing on Lilac Road when he was observed driving 150 km/h in an 80 km/ h zone. Here is the police report:
TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT (CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in a local male being charged.
 On December 6, 2014 an OPP officer observed a vehicle being operated at 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 7 near Lilac Road and subsequently stopped the vehicle.
 The driver, Michael JAMES, 23 years of age, of Omemee was charged with racing a motor vehicle and with failing to surrender an insurance card. The accused’s licence was suspended for 7 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. JAMES will appear in court, in Lindsay on January 13, 2015.
