Visitors Sharing Gospel Tracts!
A born-again couple recently visited Omemee, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ by passing out Gospel tracts and encouraging others to share them.
'The following page shows scriptures proving Jesus Christ is the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls' shared Tara, adding' This is from the King James Version.'

Omemee Beach Sunday June 24 2-5 pm FREE BBQ, Volleyball Tournament, Kids Games, Wait what's this - Rappers? "I am JBEZ" and Streets Salvation are in Kawartha Lakes turning Rap on its head,and turning hearts to God with Rap, healing, and word!
Streets Salvation and "I am JBEZ" from Miami, have a ministry that reaches all ages.In videos posted by D2Mmusic, you can see their music, Bible study sessions, healing services,and testimonies of people whose lives have been turned around by their ministry.
Sunday,June 24 JBEZ and Streets Salvation will be at Omemee Outreach on the Beach. George Street South,Omemee 2-5 pm. Today's all ages event will include a FREE BBQ ,a Volleyball tournament, kids games,and more. Opening for "I am JBEZ" and "Streets Salvation" will be local Christian Gospel musicians, Vicky and Joy.
Sunday evening ,June 24, Streets Salvation and JBEZ will be at Lindsay Outreach beside Lindsay Daily Post offices. We are looking forward to posting more details as they arrive.
Outreach at the Beach is hosted by Omemee Christian Outreach,and is the kick-off for the Omemee Outreach bi-weekly FREE Family BBQ's.

Trinity United Church Omemee UCW will celebrate their 50th Anniversary with a special service and luncheon Sunday, May 27th, beginning at 11:15 a.m. Fifty years of what? What is it these women have been up to for the last fifty years? What does the UCW do? United Church women work for justice.What is the UCW?
The United Church Women,formed in 1962 when two organizations with impressive legacies combined:Woman's Association and the Woman's Missionary Society. Over the last 50 years the UCW has upheld the faith and commitment of the women of the past while taking on challenges of each new decade and forming an equally impressive legacy for women of the future. An anniversary is a time to look back, around, and hopefully ahead. The book,'Ordinary Heroes gives a wonderful snapshot of UCW work over the past 50 years. It offers an excellent opportunity to look at what the United Church Women, have been doing over the last half century and also to ask how they might adjust their course as we move into the future.'The forward goes on to briefly critique how the UCW have been faring over the past 50 years in living up to their four pillars of the UCW purpose: witness, study, fellowship, and service. Betty looks briefly at the challenges the UCW has faced over the years, and the current challenges facing the UCW as they work together for justice.
Anniversary Project:Funding Midwife Training Courses for Women
The National UCW Anniversary project is to raise $50,000 to fund midwife training courses at the Morogoro Women Training Centre in Tanzania.These training courses also help support women in the fight against female genital mutilation. In Tanzania,there are over 1000 deaths each day due to complications from pregnancy and childbirth. 80%of these births do not take place in a hospital or clinic. Many traditional birth assistants have had no formal training,, and most alarming, the same women who attend births also perform Female Genital Mutilation of girls and young women despite it being illegal. The maternal health care worker courses will have an anti-FGM and anti gender violence message. The course content will professionalize birth assistants and provide additional training in nutrition as well as training in Emergency First Aid and CPR. The goal is to equip women, from remote communities,with skills like community health care workers or First Responders.

So what have Trinity United Church Women been doing to work for justice the past 50 years? Join the celebration this morning and find out! Trinity United Church 2 King Street West, Omemee, is fully accessible,with a lift to all three floors,and accessible washrooms. Nursery and Sunday School during services is available for children. All are welcome. Trinity United Church Omemee Women meet at 7pm, the first Monday evening of each month on the lower level of Trinity United Church 2 King Street West, Omemee.Resources:

Trinity United Church Omemee Celebrates 176 Years!
Trinity United Church Omemee, celebrated 176 years serving our community last week with special music, Guest Preacher, and a luncheon. Zoomer Magazine recently profiled Guest Preacher Reverend J. Newton Reed, pictured below.
'When I received Newton's sermon title, I wondered if I was reading it correctly, ' shared interim minister Reverend Alan Boyd, adding,'After seeing the pictures in Newton"s Power Point presentation, I understood.'
Girls! Sermon Highlights Importance of Funding Girls Education
Guests at the joint Bethel - Omemee United Pastoral Charge service enjoyed Reverend Reed's thought-provoking sermon which stressed the importance of supporting missions which advocate for women's education.Reverend J. Newton Reed, special guest preacher, gave a moving sermon connecting Trinity's history to his family's experiences as missionaries in China. Reverend Reed spoke passionately about his sister Edith, adopted into their family at age 6, by paying eight cents to save her from life in a brothel or beggar band. Edith grew up to be a top Christian Chinese nurse, who was later persecuted for her faith, education, and social standing when the communists took power. Reverend Reed, shared how baby girls are disposed of yet today in many parts of the world. He cited many reasons for the importance of supporting missions educating women, in particular, the women of Afghanistan.

Guest Soloist Accompanies Trinity Omemee Choir
Trinity Omemee choir, under the direction of Shirley Robertson, and accompanied by Guest Soloist Betty Archer opened the service with 'He Is Here'. During the service, Betty Archer sang the two solos in beautiful dulcet tones including 'Because He Lives' which so moved the congregation, that Reverend Reed asked her to please lead the congregation in singing a chorus of this old familiar song before everyone dismissed to enjoy the Anniversary luncheon. Trinity United Church choir welcomes you to join them for practice immediately before services each Sunday. This Sunday, for Mother's Day, Trinity choir will be singing that old gospel favourite 'Precious Mem'ries.'
Trinity United Church 176 Years Serving Our Community
Just over 176 years ago, Wesleyans held preaching services in homes, then a log school house on Sturgeon Road. William Cottingham received 20 English pounds from the Wesleyan-Methodist Church of Canada,in exchange for the the land where Trinity now stands in 1842. This is just a bit of the background information from theTrinity United Church Historical Review for the 175th Anniversary written by 'Doc' Forbes McEwen. Over the years Trinity United Church has served our community in many ways. Currently many organizations meet in the wheelchair accessible building, including the Ontario Early Years Centre, Community Care Adult Day Programs, and the Horticulture Society. Soon the Pastoral Charge will be announcing this summer's VIBE youth outreach. Interim Minister Reverend Alan Boyd, his wife Reverend Wendy , and Guest Preacher Reverend Newton J. Reed pictured below cut the cake at the Anniversary celebration, where people from both congregations enjoyed renewing friendships and catching up on changes that have occurred over the past year.

Church Board Applauds New Chair Lift Givers!
Omemee Baptist Church Board Thanks Chair Lift Donors
Omemee Baptist Church Board of Deacons showed its appreciation to all those who gave so generously toward the new chair lift by treating the congregation to a celebration lunch, Sunday, April 29.
The celebration luncheon was a delicious way to thank all the people who gave time and money to make the church more accessible to all.
The lift has been operational for the past two weeks, and several in the congregation have expressed their gratitude and relief they no longer need to navigate the long set of stairs to the sanctuary. Here, pictured below, is Mary McMaster, 90, happy to be riding safely on the new chair lift at Omemee Baptist Church.
The chair lift is easily accessible through the automatic double doors on the north side of the church, at 21 Sturgeon Street.
