Health Canada Recall : Flammable Pyjamas!

Pyjamas Manufactured in India Pose Flammability Risk!

Several Cotton girl's pyjama sets manufactured in India for Les Modes Amerco Paradiso Apparel Inc have been recalled by Health Canada as posing a flammability risk to children.  Loose-fitting children's sleepwear can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more readily than tight-fitting sleepwear and once ignited will burn rapidly, potentially resulting in severe burns to large areas of the child's body.  For this reason, cotton is not permitted in loose-fitting
sleepwear.

Sleepwear Recalled Does Not Meet Canadian  Flammability Standards

Health Canada recalled the sleepwear with the code CA # 32071 in the following styles:

  • 69454  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with short sleeves and monkey print  4-6X
  • 59454  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with short sleeves and monkey print  2-3X
  • 09454  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with short sleeves and monkey print  12-24 months
  • 69455  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with "purrfect" kitten print  4-6X
  • 59455  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with "purrfect" kitten print  2-3X
  • 69456  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with monkey in hot-air balloon print  4-6X
  • 59456  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with monkey in hot-air balloon print  2-3X
  • 09456  Girls 100% cotton 2-piece set with monkey in hot-air balloon print  12-24 months
While no reports of injuries have been reported, sampling by Health Canada revealed the children's sleepwear doesn't meet flammability standards under Canadian law.
Between January to February 2013, approximately 816 sets of the polo pyjamas were sold in Canada, distributed by Ameco Paradisio.
