Join Millbrook LIONS 4th Purina Walk for Dog Guides

Saturday, May 25, 2013 Millbrook will be the place to be, with both a Soapbox Derby, and The Millbrook and District LIONS sponsoring their 4th annual walkathon supporting LIONS Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.
Want to participate in the walkathon? All you need for the walkathon is good walking shoes and a pledge sheet. Dogs are welcome too, but not necessary.

Millbrook LIONS 2013 Walk for Dog Guides Offers Two Routes

 Millbrook's Saturday walkathon starts and finishes at the Millpond. Registration begins at 9:30 am, with the Walk starting at 10:00. There are two Millbrook walkathon routes to choose from: a village walk to the fairgrounds and back to the Millpond, or a nature walk on the Millbrook Valley Trails. Participants can win great prizes, and community groups are welcome to set up displays.

Walk For Dog Guides  Pledge Sheets Widely Available

 Purina Walk for Dog Guides pledge sheets can be found throughout the village in various locations including: TD Bank - Millbrook, Cavan Monaghan Libraries - Bruce Johnston Branch and Millbrook Branch, Bailieboro Library, Millbrook Pharmacy, Cavan Chiropractic, Millbrook Farm Supply, Peterborough West Animal Hospital, Cavan Hills Veterinary Services, Millbrook Valley Animal Hospital, and Millbrook Community Care. Alternatively, walkers can register and donate online at PurinaWalkforDogGuides.com.

LIONS Now Offer 6 Types of Free Dog Guides

 Do you know someone who has a Dog Guide or someone who may need one? In Canada, one of the groups who raise, train and provide the Dog Guides is the LIONS Foundation of Canada. LIONS Foundation of Canada service dogs are provided free to qualified applicants. LIONS Foundation of Canada trains six different types of Dog Guides

  • Canine Vision Dog Guides: for people who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Hearing Ear Dogs: for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Special Skills Dog Guides: for people with a medical or physical disability.
  • Seizure Response Dog Guides: for people who have epilepsy.
  • Autism Assistance Dog Guides: for children with autism.
  •  NEW Diabetic Alert Dog Guides: for people 10 or older, with type 1 Diabetes & hypoglycemic unawareness.
