January 1, 2015 Nine new weeds were added to the Ontario Noxious Weeds Schedule, and nine weeds were removed from from the Schedule. Changes to the schedule are cited as being beneficial to pollinators, such as bees.
Nine weed species are being removed from the Ontario Noxious Weeds Schedule January 1, 2015. Some of these species are considered a food source for pollinators, such as bees. Weeds such as wild carrot, goat's-beard, scotch thistle, nodding thistle, yellow rocket, and tuberous vetchling that are being removed from the Schedule are no longer considered significant threats to agricultural nor horticultural production and can be managed through modern management practices.
