Omemee Market Seeks Vendors
Farmers and Local Retailers Welcome to Omemee Market!
For some time now, tourists have been wondering if Omemee had a Farmer’s Market. In a progressive move Omemee Pigeon eFlyer has located a spot for the market in a convenient high traffic area the northwest corner of Highway 7 and Ski Hill Road. We made enquiries with the City of Kawartha Lakes and were informed that there are policies governing who can sell at a Market in our municipality
1.Any registered Farm in Ontario is welcome to sell items they produce themselves on their farm.
2. Any Registered Business within the City of Kawartha Lakes may sell at a market.
3. Any person holding a Transient Vendors Permit issued by the City of Kawartha Lakes.
We also were guided to call the Ministry of Transportation in regards to any permits that might be required for the use of the land. Mr. Don Lawrence at the MTO offices in Port Perry informed us that the piece of property in question is under City of Kawartha Lakes jurisdiction, and no land use permit would be required from his department. Mr. Lawrence is looking forward to stopping into the Omemee Farmer’s Market in the near future, and wishes us luck.
Vendor spots 12 x20 are waiting and available.
Vendor spots 12x 20 are available $15 each day, and for a limited time spots will be available 2 for $15 for use the same day or on separate days.Proposed Days for Omemee Market are Friday,Saturday and Sunday, as these are the days with maximum traffic in the area. Early morning during the week is another possibility, however the tourist traffic is highest on weekends.
Online Sales for Omemee Market Vendors
A blogsite has been established for Omemee Market vendors where they will be able to advertise their wares year round, and take pre-orders for people to pick up at market as well.
Entertainment and Events
Omemee Market is looking forward to featuring fun family events and activities. There will be a Kids Craft Corner where kids can get creative each week in addition to other events and activities on a rotational basis. One local entertainer has signed up already- so we will be featuring the balloon artistry of Twisty the Clown.
