9-11-14 PM National Day of Service Statement Lacks Important Recognition! [Editorial]

National Day of Service- Remember Omemee Youth Who Served!

Omemee Horticultural Club created a memorial garden honouring two young men who attended Lady Eaton Elementary School and paid the ultimate price in service to others, yet the September 11, 2014 National Day of Service statement by Prime Minister Harper on Canada's Day of Service, made no mention of this important service by any Afghanistan fallen.
Omitting a mention of the Afghanistan Veterans service from the National Day of Service Statement is just a tiny tip on the cold iceberg of injustice against injured veterans. Veterans are promised when they go to war, our country will take care of them if they die or are injured. This promise is not being honoured.

Bridge Humour

A bridge duffer was polishing a lamp and… poof! Out popped a genie who said, “I will grant you one wish.”

The duffer unfolded a map of the world and said, “Let all of these countries live in peace and harmony.”

“You’ve got to be kidding! I’m only a genie.”

The duffer thought for a while and then suggested, “OK, then make me a winning bridge player.”

“Hmm… ” the genie pondered. “Let me see that map again.
