Sex Assault Suspect Mistakenly Released! [Updated]
Oops! Steven Douglas Ball, 40 Released by Lindsay Correctional Centre!
Please Read the Update - Steven Ball Arrested! Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service is working closely with the Ministry of the Attorney General and Durham Regional Police to locate Steven Douglas Ball, 40, of no fixed address.
Ball facing 5 Sex Related Charges
Ball was in custody at the Lindsay Correctional Centre serving a sentence and was brought to Peterborough on May 10, 2012 to face new charges of invitation to sexual touching, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference. He appeared in a Peterborough court on May 10 and was remanded back into custody at the Lindsay Correctional Centre with a new court date set for May 15 in Peterborough. His previous sentence had expired on May 13 and he was inadvertently released from the Lindsay Correctional Centre.
Two Warrants Issued for Ball's Arrest
The courts have issued two warrants for the arrest of Ball. One is a warrant that is issued in the public interest to have Ball returned to jail to face these additional charges and one is a bench warrant for failing to appear in court in Peterborough on May 15 to face these new charges. Ball is known to frequent Peterborough and Oshawa.
He is described as male, Caucasian, 40 years old, 6'2", approximately 190 pounds, balding (brown hair), wears glasses with blue eyes.
Anyone with information on Ball’s whereabouts is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Police at 705-876-1122, Durham Regional Police at 905-579-1520 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
