When Arianna returned home she met with Diane Steven, Manager of Kawartha Lakes Small Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (KLSBEC) and Andrew Wallen, General Manager of Kawartha Lakes Community Future Development Corporation (KLCFDC) who sponsored the Grand Prize Award. The business plan competition is directed to all high schools students from grade 9 to 12 and they are invited to develop a business concept and create a formal business plan.
The plans are reviewed by judges who are volunteers with the youth program Summer Company through the KLSBEC. The KLSBEC provides the information and tools that entrepreneurs need to grow their businesses. Operating as an arm of the Economic Development department of the City of Kawartha Lakes, the Centre is a one-stop source for business information, guidance and professional advice on starting and running a successful business – for both start-up and growing businesses.
