Surprisinglly, neither of Mayor Letham's New Years Levees will be in Lindsay. The first Levee will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bobcaygeon Service Centre, and the second will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Coronation Hall in Omemee.
“This is a great opportunity to visit with area residents and welcome in the New Year,” said Mayor Letham. “One of the things I really want to do as Mayor is spend more time talking with the community and being active in the community. This is a great way to kick off 2015 and to start the year on a really positive note."
Mayor Letham is hoping to chat with as many people as possible at the Levees - a difficult task, considering the size of City of Kawartha Lakes.
“These events are for everyone,” Mayor Letham continued. “I encourage everyone to bring their friends and family, drop in and say hello, and share your ideas and hopes for the future of our City.”
Since being sworn in December 1, Mayor Letham has been meeting with staff across the City as well as meeting with residents and getting their feedback on what they would like to see happen to move Kawartha Lakes forward.
“There are some very talented and dedicated people in our community who have some great ideas about some things we can be doing and some areas of the City they feel could be improved upon,” said Mayor Letham. “These two Levees will be an opportunity to have more discussion and positive dialogue and to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2015.”
Perhaps in the future we can look forward to Live streamed town halls to allow for even more people to contribute their 2 cents worth into the mix.
