Bluegrass Gospel Plus Harry Peeters Mexico Mission Trip Highlighted During Monday Night Dinner! [Video]
Monday Night Christian Dinner Features Bluegrass Gospel Players
Monday, April 20th, Harry Peeters gave an enlightening report on his mission trip to Mexico, where he'd participated with other area men in the building and relief work. Then, Omemee Christian Outreach diners filled the Coronation Hall with music as they sang along to great live blue-grass gospel.
While there were many old time favourites played such as "In the Sweet By and By", "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", and "I'll Fly Away", a rare treat were pieces composed by Bill McDonald such as his tribute to veterans, and the fallen of Afghanistan which closed the evening.
Blue Grass Trio Rings Omemee Coronation Hall with Gospel Music
Bill Murray - bass guitarist; Bill McDonald -lead, and John Partridge - banjo and guitar, had never played together as a group, before, yet the three were an amazing trio. John Partridge - former Globe and Mail columnist switched with ease between banjo and guitar, good-naturedly putting up with the ribbing by lead Bill MacDonald. Bill McDonald actively works on church fundraising through music evenings. For more information call Bill McDonald at 705-741-5275
Mexico Inside Glimpse Into Poverty
Harry Peeters shared poignant inside glimpses into the tragedy and poverty that exists in Mexico. Some of the outreach activities the mission team were involved in included: delivering emergency supplies to field workers whose homes had burned to the ground, constructing buildings, youth outreach through soccer, and outreach to an addictions centre.
It was an uplifting and educational evening for all.
Omemee Christian Outreach welcomes everyone each Monday evening to join them at Coronation Hall . Doors open for set up at 5:30pm Grace is at 6:30pm followed by a speaker, praise and worship, and prayer. For more information, call Harry Peeters at 705-799-7335
