Doctor Recruitment Reports Successful Year!
Special note was made of the very productive year with the continuation of proven
recruitment and retention initiatives, an increase in the number of family doctor site visits held, and especially the recruitment of four family doctors to the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL). KLHCI is also pleased that as a result of last year’s proposal for a Rural Family Medicine Residency Program, three Universities have residents who will be training in the CKL, and at Ross Memorial Hospital for one-to-two month placements beginning July 1st.
Incoming President, Andrew Veale, thanked Robyn McNabb for her commitment, dedication and leadership as President for the past two years, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the past six years. Veale also welcomed to the board Dr. Joan Dafoe as a representative of the medical community, and Carly Poole as a representative from Bobcaygeon. Currently, KLHCI has board representation from Bobcaygeon, Bolsover, Cameron, Lindsay, Little Britain, Woodville, the medical community, Ross Memorial Hospital, and CKL council. KLHCI is seeking one more member of the community to serve as a director particularly from an area that is currently not represented.KLHCI is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to recruit and retain family doctors for the City of Kawartha Lakes.
