OFAH Welcomes New Minister Returning Forestry to MNR ~

Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP takes on Ministry of Natural Resources ~

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is pleased the new provincial cabinet will include a northern Ontario-based Minister of Natural Resources. Michael Gravelle, representing Thunder Bay-Superior North, will move over from Minister of Northern Development and Mines, and will bring with him Forestry. In 2009, Forestry was moved to the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, a decision that received mixed reviews among the outdoors community.

'The OFAH has had meaningful and constructive dialogue with Minister Gravelle on fish and wildlife issues in the past,' said OFAH Executive Director, Mike Reader. .adding:'We look forward to working with him to ensure that our precious natural resources get the attention and financial support that is so critical to Ontario's biodiversity. In advocating for more fish and wildlife program resources and opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, Minister Gravelle will have an ally in the OFAH..'
'The new minister fully understands the importance of the contributions of anglers and hunters to fish and wildlife conservation and Ontario's economy,' added Reader.
Mr. Reader looks forward to having a face-to-face meeting with Minister Gravelle in the near future.
With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 670 member clubs, the OFAH is the province's largest nonprofit fish and wildlife conservation-based organization, and the VOICE of anglers and hunters. For more information, visit www.ofah.org.
