Ecosystem 2000 -Farm Field Transformation!
Scott Young Public School Plants Conservation Legacy!
Since 1993, Scott Young Public School students have been nurturing a dream and watching it grow into a lasting legacy.Ecosystem 2000, bounded on the south side by the Kawartha Rail Trail, offers visitors an opportunity to learn about some of the trees and plants in the area through interpretive signs placed strategically throughout the ecosystem.
From 1993 to 2000, Scott Young Public School students planted over18,000 trees,wildlife shrubs, vines and seedlings. This legacy will grow for years to come,and for many to enjoy.
Some Ecosystem 2000 project highlights include:
- 71 species planted
- Naturalized Wetland
- Apple and Pear Orchard
- Sugar and Silver Maple Groves
- 300 Red Maples on the Drumlin
Be sure to stop by and enjoy this lovely area at the north-west corner of the Kawartha Rail Trail. Please remember to leave only footprints.
