God Brings Omemee Pigeon eFlyer!

New update being added re: flooding, no water to shower and gas disconnection notice.
Two months ago, I was suddenly diagnosed with uterine cancer and needed emergency surgery.
How would we keep a roof over our heads or food on the table when I could not work at my new job?
We reached out via an online fundraising campaign with a modest goal of $500 - $1 for each person for whom I had provided hours of free writing, advertising or Social Media work.
Often many people had said "Thanks, I "ll take you out for a coffee sometime."
So a virtual coffee was our goal.
$1 from each person for the years of writing I had done.
Through all my social media accounts, I have over 20,000 people who read my writing. If just 500 people each bought me a coffee, it would be a big help.
Not One Person Would Buy Us a Coffee
I would like to say the fundraiser was a great success.
However, other than a few people liking the posts and a couple sharing it, there was NO response.
Nada, zilch, nothing.
Two months later, we are back online.
How?
Through the grace of God.
First the bad news:
I fell and hit my head after surgery, so have had vertigo and "crickets" in my ears for months.
Even nodding my head has been a great challenge - walking even more difficult.
My daughter had to be hospitalized, so it is myself and her cat.
A PSW comes twice a week for 30 minutes to help me change and shower, and a physiotherapist just started coming once a week to try and help get rid of the vertigo and restore the muscles that had to be sliced to save my life.
I am thankfully covered by ODSP for Red Cross rides to the doctor. However, I have no way to do laundry, get mail, groceries or even prescriptions.
At the beginning of June, we were even going to lose our phone, which would mean no more PSW or physiotherapy.
GOD SAVES
In desperation I prayed,
"Lord, our phone is supplied by a church in exchange for Web work, If it is Your Will we have Internet so I can do the work for the church, and have this phone, I know You will supply the funds. If that is not Your Will, then I am going to trust that You have a better plan."

Two days later, I called the bank to check on our financial situation and received a surprise.
Quickly, I called the gas company.
Quickly, I called the gas company.
"Did you make a mistake in the amount you withdrew from our account yesterday for equal billing?:
"No, the amount is correct.You were one of the 9% of our customers who had their equal billing reduced."
I was astounded.
The reduction in the equal billing for gas was the amount we needed for Internet!
So, this post has definitely been brought to you by God.

The ultrasound tech and the OBGYN both say it was a miracle the uterine cancer was found so early - no chemo needed. Just semi-annual check ups.

What Do Those URLs Mean?

COM (Commercial) – Generally for commercial use. By far the most recognized domain name extension.
NET (Network) – This was originally intended for network oriented sites such as internet service providers. This definitely isn’t the case any longer. People will register .NET domains for commercial use, generally if the .COM extension isn’t available or if they’d like to protect their main .COM domain by registering all available extensions. .
ORG (Organization) – This domain extension was originally for non-profit or trade organizations, but is generally registered by anyone looking to protect their main domain by registering all available domain extensions or simply because a better extension isn’t available for registration. .
BIZ (Business) – This is a gTLD that is generally registered to classify their website as a business. Although it’s not a commonly recognized extension, It can be great alternative if the .COM extension isn’t available
INFO (Informational) – This gTLD is generally used as an extension for informational websites.While it received some back lash as a spam type for a while it is rebounding in popularity. Developing an informational website? It’s a good domain extension
Country Domain URLs
CA (Canada) – This restricted ccTLD is generally reserved for Canadian-based businessesUS (United States) – This ccTLD generally refers to US based companies.
CO.UK (United Kingdom) – This country code domain is generally reserved for commercial related websites based in the United Kingdom. Although not restricted to UK based business,unless you plan on doing some sort of business in the UK it is longer than most.
CN (China) – This is the ccTLD for China. Not restricted to companies based in China it can basically be registered by anyone that would like a .CN extension
WS (Website) – This is actually a ccTLD for Western Samoa but was converted to a domain extension commonly used as an acronym for ‘website’.
ME (ME) – Originally the ccTLD of Montenegro but often used for personal related websites such as family websites or blogs, posting your resume or portfolio.
NAME (NAME) – These are gTLD intended for personal use. This extension is used for personal / family websites or name related email addresses. If you have a common name you might, want to grab yours..
MOBI (Mobile) – This domain extension, as of this writing, is fairly new. Many domain name owners register their domain name with the .MOBI domain name to protect their brand, but it is usually reserved for websites built for displaying on mobile devices. .
TV (Television) – Used primarily for media, primarily video, related websites.
There are many many more extensions you can register, though many extensions are country code domains restricted to businesses or individuals living in that particular country.
Which Company to Choose When Purchasing Domain Names:
Watch out for websites offering Domain names less than $1 that do not let you purchase more than 1 year, at a time. Letter to Editor Re Greenshire Eco Farms Article ~
Earlier this month,Omemee Pigeon eFlyer received a lengthy submission from Greenshire EcoFarms,which contained formatting incompatible with our site. After stripping the formatting,we spent 5 hours reformatting part of the article,then posted a portion of the article to our site,as the writer indicated they wished it published as soon as possible. We received the following letter to the editor today from Greenshire Eco Farms:
I wanted to point out that the May 19, 2012 story title "Food Safety Concerns Increases Organic Food Box Interest!", which you edited from our original title, is misleading to readers. We grow following organic principles, but we are not certified organic.
Also, in that same story, below the title and before the first story paragraph, there's an AdChoices for canola, a GMO crop. This is really poor placement. We are completely against GMO crops, and it strikes me as totally incongruent to place a GMO ad in a story on food safety organic growing! One of the reasons food is not safe is because of GMOs. We'd be much obliged if you'd remove it or replace it with a more suitable ad. Thank you very much. We appreciate all your efforts in the community!

Dear Ms. MacDonald,
Thank you very much for your letter explaining Greenshire Eco Farms is not a certified organic farm. We have re- read the article several times,and cannot find the phrase 'certified organic'. Perhaps you or another of our readers could tell us where it is located.
As to the ad at the top of the article: I can understand how such an ad would be very disconcerting to you. However, the ad you see is based on your internet usage. Here is a screen shot of the article showing the ad I see when I visit it - an ad for a dental equipment provider - Denovo Dental. 
We do not choose the ad that appears at the top of each article, it is based on an algorithm determined by a combination of the individual reader's Internet usage,and the content of the article.However,if you have an advertiser willing to pay for the banner ad at the top of all the Greenshire Eco Farm Articles, I could change the code from Google Adsense to display that particular ad. Please advise the advertiser that family-friendly Banner Ads start at $10 per month.

When we first set up Omemee Pigeon eFlyer, we optimistically posted a donation button,where people could express their gratitude for the hours of work put into posting events,news,articles,and ads for local businesses. Some of our readers have kindly given us gifts in kind for our work - movie rentals,soap, herbal remedies, food, drinking water, yard maintenance, transportation, and computer repair. However some bills need cash thrown at them - specifically Hydro and Internet, and our tip jar has yet to receive a single donation. Thankfully, two American readers admired our local coverage so much, they paid us to review their sites, which was an immense help in lower viewer months.
