Reminder Omemee Flu Clinic Tonight!

Influenza Immunization Clinics City Of Kawartha Lakes - 2011

Flu shots are now available free-of-charge at any of the following community clinics or through your health care provider.

Appointments are not necessary if you are visiting one of the Health Unit's clinics, but please remember to:

  • bring your health card and/or driver's license

  • wear a short sleeve shirt, if possible

  • be prepared to remain in the clinic area for 15 minutes after being vaccinated.

Please note: This year's flu vaccine is not neomycin-free.

You are invited to join in the Omemee "Community Design Walk" Wednesday, November 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Coronation Hall, 1 King Street West.  

During this event you'll meet the consulting team's Urban Designer, Mr. Kiran Chhiba, and take him on a guided tour of our hometown.  He'll listen intently as you explain the places, and spaces that represent the essence of our community; and then he'll help us prepare our hometown's Secondary Plan so that it promotes Omemee's special character.

Due to the unique nature of the event, please R.S.V.P. so refreshments can coordinated.

Remembrance Day Services Omemee Legion ~

Omemee Remembrance Day Services and Dinner~

Remembrance Day became very poignant for our community after not one,but two former local students were killed in Afghanistan. Today while thousands across Canada remember those fallen in previous wars,and we thank the Veterans who remain with us for their sacrifices,Omemee Legion Branch 497 will have a parade from the Legion at 10:30 to the Cenotaph at Coronation Hall for a ceremony,and the laying of wreaths at 11 am.Later this evening,there will be a Veteran’s Dinner on the Godon T. Bocock Memorial Hall at the Omemee Legion with tickets available at the door for $20 per person. The following photos are from the dedication of the Omemee Memorial Garden at Omemee Legion in Honour of the memory of former students Cpl. Mark Robert McLaren MMV and Pte. Michael Bruce Freeman.

If you are unable to attend the Remembrance Day Service in your area, please participate in the 2-minute “Wave of Silence” on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11, 2011.  Please stop for 2 minutes at 11:00 am to pay special tribute to the Canadian men and women who gave their lives in war to defend our Country.  The wave starts on the east coast at 11:00 am and proceeds through each time zone to British Columbia.

Trent Radio Invites You to 'Occupy the Airwaves'!

Have Social Injustices to Air? Air Them On Trent Radio!

Regular programming is set aside for Friday November18th, and instead Trent Radio is devoting an entire day to the event: "Occupy the Airwaves".

If you have some political message, some social injustice that needs voiced, some economic itch to scratch, then sign up to do some programming on our November 18th event day, 'Occupy the Airwaves'.

‘Trent Radio has no political stance’, explains James Kerr,Trent Radio Programme Director, adding ’We are simply a broadcast facility available to get the message out from our membership to insightful ears.’

If you want to get involved, go down to Trent Radio House, 715 George St. North, and scribble in something on the Sign Up Sheet in the hallway. If you're nervous about speaking, and just want to be involved, tune in to 92.7 FM CFFF in Peterborough all day long November 18th and listen.

Festival of Trees Holiday House Tour- Millbrook!

Two Millbrook home are decked out for the holidays as part of the 21st Annual Festival of Trees Holiday House Tour. Bonnie McQuarrie of Bethany Hills Interiors decorated the two beautiful homes on the Festival of Trees Holiday House Tour close to Millbrook. Watch for the Grandchildren's Suite in one of them, with a train running through it! Millbrook area homes highlighted on the Festival of Trees Holiday House Tour are located at Zion Line, east of County Road #10, and the other on Syer Line, west of Tapley. One of the event organisers claimed it was the best mix of homes in the 21 year history of the Tour! Many Millbrook area businesses are welcoming visitors with special displays,gifts and draws this weekend.

Everyone on the House Tour has been thrilled with what they have seen so far!  Millbrook businesses are offering extended hours to welcome the many visitors. Bear Essentials in Millbrook,where you can pick up Tour Tickets ($20 Cash Only). will be open Sunday 11 - 5, and is offering FREE Kyoto Coffee Travel Mugs, while they last.
