32nd East Central Farm Show Starts Today!!

East Central Farm Show Welcomes You!

2012 East Central Farm Show takes place Wednesday March 7th, 10 am to 9:30 pm,and Thursday March 8th, 10 am to 4 pm. The 32nd East Central Farm Show will be held in the Farmers' Mutual Exhibition Building, and the Show Ring, at Lindsay Fairgrounds, 354 Angeline Street South, Lindsay, Ontario. While the Application Deadline to appear in the Show Guide was January 24, 2012, this is an excellent opportunity to find out about the latest innovations in farming,meet neighbours, and catch up on local farm news.image East Central Farm Show Flyer

FREE Admission for Soil and Crop Improvement Association Members

Admission to the East Central Farm Show is only $5 per person,but 2012 Soil and Crop Improvement Association members get in free. Soil and crop memberships went on sale earlier this year at the 2012 Soil and Crop Meeting, but you can pick up a membership at the Farm Show as well.

East Central Farm Show Historical Notes

  • 1981-Manvers Community Centre,was the site of the first show aptly named 'The Farm Show'
  • 1983 Renamed East Central Farm Show and moved to the Fenelon Hall, Cambray
  • 1992 Moved to the Morrow building, Peterborough
  • 2008 East Central District Soil and Crop Improvement Association moved the East Central Farm Show to the Farmers' Mutual Exhibition building at the new Lindsay Fairgrounds
  • 2010 The 30th East Central Farm Show had over 150 exhibitors. The Farmers' Mutual Exhibition building now has 2 wireless sound speakers,thanks to exhibitors who donated door prizes, East Central Soil and Crop Association donated $5000 towards the sound system Fall 2010.

Omemee Christian Outreach - Holiday Fun!

Omemee Christian Outreach meets regularly Monday evenings for dinner, prayer, praise and Christian Fellowship at 6:30 pm at Christ Church Anglican. For the next two weeks however,there will be a change of pace.

For the next two weeks, rather than meeting at Christ Church Anglican,Omemee Christian Outreach welcomes you to join in a bit of holiday fun Wednesdays at noon at the cabin on Harry Peeters farm,just outside Omemee.

Harry Peeters has invited everyone to fun and fellowship at the cabin on his farm,just outside Omemee - pitching horseshoes.For the next two Wednesdays, come join in the fun at Harry's cabin at the back of their farm pitching horseshoes -good wholesome fun, and great friends.

Reminder Omemee Flu Clinic Tonight!

Influenza Immunization Clinics City Of Kawartha Lakes - 2011

Flu shots are now available free-of-charge at any of the following community clinics or through your health care provider.

Appointments are not necessary if you are visiting one of the Health Unit's clinics, but please remember to:

  • bring your health card and/or driver's license

  • wear a short sleeve shirt, if possible

  • be prepared to remain in the clinic area for 15 minutes after being vaccinated.

Please note: This year's flu vaccine is not neomycin-free.

Local Activities and Events in our Rural Area

Is your event in Omemee Pigeon eFlyer? No?  Well send it in! Events in the Omemee Pigeon eFlyer are submitted by local residents,local organizations, and local businesses, Our events calendar is open to events happening in the rural area between Lindsay and Peterborough. While we try to scout events in the area,and add them to the calendar,there are three ways to get your event listed:

Tomorrow is Bethany Day in Omemee!  Did you know you can opt to get off the bus in Omemee on Thursdays? Remember to buy your bus tokens today, to be able to take the local transit tomorrow. If you are unable to get to Coronation Hall before 4:30 today to pick up your bus tokens, call us at the Omemee Pigeon eFlyer, before 2pm and we will purchase them for you in Omemee. You can then pick up your tokens between 6pm and 9pm this evening in Omemee.

Omemee Community Design Walk – Showing Our Town!

Omemee Community Design Walk- RSVP Today!

You are invited to join in the Omemee "Community Design Walk" Wednesday, November 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Coronation Hall, 1 King Street West.  

During this event you'll meet the consulting team's Urban Designer, Mr. Kiran Chhiba, and take him on a guided tour of our hometown.  He'll listen intently as you explain the places, and spaces that represent the essence of our community; and then he'll help us prepare our hometown's Secondary Plan so that it promotes Omemee's special character.

Due to the unique nature of the event, please R.S.V.P. so refreshments can coordinated.

Omemee Baptist Church sponsors activities for youth each Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Scott Young School, 27 Walnut Street West, Omemee, Ontario. The free youth program, is open to students from Grades 6 to 12.

Omemee Pigeon eFlyer wishes to thank the friendly folks at Omemee Baptist Church for sponsoring this weekly get together, and especially  Murray Quibell, who kindly donates his time, giving the youth of our village and area time to run off some steam in a safe environment.

Girls 12-17 meet each Wednesday night 6:15-7:45 p.m.at Bethel United Church
Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) is a program developed for girls ages 12 - 17. Girls and leaders participate in activities based on the needs and interests of the girls in keeping with the four elements of the CGIT purpose:
Cherish Health, Seek Truth, Know God, and Serve Others
Some activities CGIT groups enjoy include: music, games, Bible study, drama, banquets, parties, bike hikes, camping, guest speakers, discussions, conferences, and participation in worship services.

Tot Mobile Visits Omemee Wednesday Mornings

Ontario Early Years Centre Offers Fun Rural Outreach Program

The Early Learning Centre mobile van from OEYC visits Omemee Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. till noon and sets up their toys and children’s equipment at Trinity United Church.  This fully equipped child-based play centre offers parents, grandparents and caregivers an opportunity to escape the isolation of rural parenting while providing fun learning opportunities for their babies, toddlers, preschoolers or kindergarten-aged children. Themed learning ‘stations’ are carefully planned with specific child-learning goals, or outcomes, in mind. Here are some of the activities from their site:
