Omemee Christian Outreach - What's Happening?

Omemee Christian Outreach Welcomes You!

Omemee Christian Outreach Monday Night Dinner was fun and informative,  at Christ Church Anglican  Omemee. Highlights of the evening included speakers, music,kids craft corner,and a delicious dinner featuring local organic beef, cabbage rolls, the kids favourite hotdogs,followed by delicious homemade tarts,Christmas cookies and fruit trays.

Praise and Prayers

Several musicians generously shared their gifts, and thought provoking speakers shared scriptures from the Bible, giving examples of their application in our lives today. The children enjoyed making crafts,and starting their manger scene for Advent,which they will be working on each week.

Pray for Attawapiskat

A prayer request for the families of Attawapiskat and our government, was brought forward,and several people in attendance,were inspired to action.

Omemee Christian Outreach Coming Events

Omemee Christmas Parade, Concert,and Attawapiskat Outreach

Several people spoke about the importance of including Christ in Christmas Celebrations,and how schools were not allowed to celebrate a Christmas centered on Christ. Some musicians have agreed to perform and lead singing at the concert on Saturday following the parade,and others are spreading the word that people are welcome to perform Saturday afternoon. Omemee Christen outreach will have treat for children at Coronation Hall following the parade,and a drive to help the children of Attawapiskat is being headed up by Sherrie Gatenby through Ruby’s Roost. Everyone is asked to please bring a gift for the children of Attawapiskat to the Coronation Hall on Saturday following the parade.

Omemee Christian Outreach Community Christmas Dinner

There has been such a big response to the Community Christmas Potluck with Turkey on December 12th,that it will be held at Coronation Hall. Plans are also coming together for entertainment that night as well,with several musicians,and other performances. People are asked to please sign up in advance, so there will be enough turkey for everyone to enjoy. To help save the environment please bring your plates and cutlery if possible.The signup sheet will be at the Coronation Hall on Saturday following the parade,at next Monday night's dinner,or you can leave a message with John Popowich at 705-799-1332

2012 Speakers Anticipated

Omemee Christian Outreach is looking forward to many speakers and events in the New Year. Two noted International speakers,who flow in the healing ministry are eagerly anticipated by people from miles around.Yassir Mahamed,and George Jenkins both have amazing testimonies,and many have received healing through their prayers.

Gardening Slides,Thanksgiving Potluck! All Welcome!

Omemee and District Horticultural Society Presents:

October 17 - 'Let's Be Thankful - All welcome to join in the potluck,starting at 6pm, then enjoy the a slide show with Erika Thimm -following their Pot Luck Supper at Christ Church Anglican.All welcome!

Erike Thimm Noted Conservationist

Erike Thimm, president of Friends of Cullen Central Park,works with concerned residents and the Town of Whitby to preserve the property formerly known as Cullen Gardens. Friends of Cullen Central Park maintain the native Ontario Wildflower Park,provide information about the importance of green space and natural habitat, and  research ideas as to how the property may be optimized,while seeking out possible funding to put the ideas into action.
Bring your favourite dish as well as plate, cutlery and mug for yourself. Speaker Erike Thimm will talk about "Things to be Thankful for". All are welcome.

Omemee and District Horticultural Society saw an example of Erika's photography when she last visited.. This time she is going to entertain and wow us with her presentation of photography put to music.
What a great way to end the annual Pot Luck Supper.

Bethel United Church,and Trinity United Church are holding a joint indoor Potluck Picnic following the 10:30 a.m. services at Trinity United Church 6 King Street West, Omemee, Sunday, August 14th .2011.. Come join in the camaraderie and fun! Remember to to pick up a registration form for next week’s Free VIBE summer camp while you’re there.
Please bring a dish to share, your cutlery, and dishes. Come out to meet the neighbours! You may also get a chance to meet the new minister who is residing in the United church manse!
Trinity United Church is wheelchair accessible with a lift for those who have a tricky time navigating stairs.

Community Care Diners' Club for seniors, and purple with special needs meet regularly at ten locations throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, Diners’ Clubs (also known as Greet and Eat in some communities) provide a nutritious meal, great company, and are often accompanied by entertainment or a guest speaker. Transportation can even be arranged if required as well. So why are some people in Omemee missing out?

Mount Horeb United Church’s Annual Ham and Salad Supper,draws diners to dinner, like bees to honey. Mount Horeb United Church will be dishing up a delicious traditional Ham and Salad  dinner, June 1st, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mount Horeb United Church is just a short jaunt down the  road west of Omemee, at 117 Hillhead Road,a bit north of  Mount Horeb Road in Reaboro, Ontario

Mount Horeb United Church has been serving up delicious church dinners for as long as anyone can remember. Early settlers in Mount Horeb held services in a log house until the church was built and dedicated in 1861. In 1894 the church was remodeled into the structure they have today.
It is not hard to imagine that early pioneer brothers, Peter and Donald Fisher, would hve enjoyed tucking into some of the local fare in the early years of Mount Horeb church dinners. Use the handy map below to get you to the church on time!

Bethel Annual Fresh Fish Fry Dinner

Bethel United Church Annual Fish Fry is a month earlier this year. Bethel Fish Fry Dinner, a popular local event, brings people swarming from miles around. Bethel Church dinners are well known for their generous portions, and delicious selection of homemade pies. Bethel will be serving up fresh caught Lake Trout and Whitefish. Orders must be placed in advance for the fish,so avoid disappointment by calling to reserve your tickets before noon on Monday.
Dinner will be served continuously from 4:30 to 7 p.m. June 1st.

Tickets for Bethel Annual  Fresh Fish Fry Dinner are: Adults, $14, Children, six to 12 years, $6.

PHILP, Joseph B.D. was born on September 4, 1851 in Manvers Twp. (Durham Co.) and was the Methodist Minister at Omemee from 1860 to1870, when he went on to minister in Millbrook and numerous other parishes. He married Miss Louisa Wright Bennett of Copetown on June 11, 1875.
