Millbrook 7th Annual Lasies Night Lamp post Contest Girls’ Night Out themed fun in Historic Millbrook Thursday August 4th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm provides fun frivolity, while raising funds for worthwhile organizations,
Once a year, all the merchants in Millbrook get together to provide something special for women. Each year’s event is better than the last one. The 7th annual Ladies’ Night takes place in Millbrook from 4:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday August 4th. This year’s theme is Girls’ Night Out. CHEX News Watch recently highlighted some of the many activities to take place this Thursday night. Here, thanks to Ian McQuarrie of Bear Essentials, is a run down of some of the fun in store for ladies visiting Millbrook August 4th.

Omemee 72nd August Flower Show!Come Celebrate!

Omemee and District Horticultural Society Presents:
August 15 - August Flower Show & Slide Show held at the Omemee Curling Club
Come out and enjoy our largest judged flower and vegetable show. As well as the adult competition, you will also see what their youth members can do! Friends and relatives are welcome. Come and bring a guest. Following the youth awards ,7:30-8:00, there will be snacks, then a slide show of the many activities involving their members. Doors open at 6:30.

Saturday, June 25 at 11 am  “Splash, Celebrate Summer” Kickoff Party

Boys and girls who join the reading club will receive a special poster, stickers, book bag and activity booklet based on our theme “Splash”.  Record the books that you read, or books which are read to you, on the Log Sheet.  Every time you read 3 books or have 6 books read to you, you will receive a special sticker and your name will be entered in the weekly draw.  Enter the “Splash” contest at your local library and join in the online fun at

Throughout the summer, Bethany Public Library has a great variety of theme based activities scheduled including:
  • Thursday, July 21 at 11 am “Treasure Hunt” for preschool age children
  • Thursday, July 21 at 4 pm “Shark Attack” for school age children
  • Thursday, August 11 at 11 am “The Sea and the Seashore” for preschool age children
  • Thursday, August 11 at 4 pm “Loads of Fun Activity Day” for school age children
  • Thursday, August 18 at 11 am “A Pocketful of Tales” with storyteller Liz Gilmour
  • Thursday, August 25 at 11 am “Ahoy Matey” Summer Finale

Outing Club Plans Omemee Area Trans Canada Trail Cycling Trip

Saturday, August 20th, The Outing Club of East York will be arriving in Omemee after cycling the Trans Canada Trail from Peterborough  The Club will be starting their trip at the Trans Canada Trail Foundation Panels at Rogers Cove that signify the support given by Canadians for the national trail project linking our country from coast to coast.

One highlight of their trip will be the rail bridge, in Omemee with its beautiful view of our valley as shown in the video below:

 

The club plans to picnic at the park in the village of Omemee.

***Overall length of Largemouth Bass determines the winner. Each angler is provided with an official ruler that each fish must be measured and photographed with a digital camera.
