Rainbow Thrift Shop 712 Janetville Road, Janetville, has two floors of great bargains Our volunteer staff at Rainbow Thrift Shop are very discerning about what we put up for sale, and we often we get items donated that still have the store tags on the clothing.
Rainbow Thrift Shop Offers Eco- Friendly Savings for the Whole Family
Rainbow Thrift Shop has men's, women's and children's clothing along with books, CD's and costume jewelry. We accept donations in these categories, but do not have the space to handle donations of furrniture or household appliances.
Rainbow Thrift Shop : You Can Help Make a Difference
Rainbow Thrift Shop hours of operation are Wednesday to Friday 10 am to 4pm. If we are not open during those hours, please bear with us as we operate on the generosity of volunteers. If you have a few hours a week to volunteer, please call the Janetville United Church office at - 705-324-4006. Rainbow Thrift Shop is located at 712 Janetville Rd. It may surprise you to learn that children are the largest group of food bank users in our province.
When schools close for the winter break, children living with chronic hunger do not have access to the nutrition provided by their school's breakfast club or meal program until they return to class in January.
Together, we can ensure that these children receive the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow into healthy adults.
* $25 can provide 75 meals to a child in need
* $50 can provide 150 meals to children living with chronic hunger
* $100 can provide a family of four with dinner for two months
* $500 can provide 2,000 meals to hungry children in Ontario

Many people in Ontario will not be asking for gifts this year. Instead, they will be wishing for things like job security, affordable housing, or enough food to get through the week.
The Ontario Association of Food Banks will be working very hard this holiday season to ensure that children and families across the province receive nutritious and fresh food throughout December and the new year.
The only problem is, they can't do it without you!

HELP!!! Need to Save This Horse!!!
Gelding Broke to Ride - Going for Meat!

Gorgeous, friendly and sweet; easy to catch and halter, this young gelding would make a great trail, or Western Games horse. We're pretty sure he is a former school horse. He is in the meat pen,and scheduled to be shipped approximately Wednesday this week. 
Horse Responds Well to Neck Reining
While we were at the auction barn,, I rode him. He responded well to neck reining, even backing up sweetly, just with bailer twine attached to his halter! I have already expressed my interest in this fellow. Of course, our challenge is our budget. Anyone wanna help out?
Rescue Budget Stretched To Limits
We are constantly re-juggling and have to pay bills sometimes! If you know of anyone interested in him, or any of our others, one adoption fee saves the next!

Christine Markle-Welch, and her husband, Howie, Welch, started their rescue in May '08 as a result of watching so many nice horses end up going for meat. To date they have saved over 65 horses from that terrible end, and are always ready to help more. They are a non-profit organization. Although they are not yet registered, they believe that profiting from their horses' situation would be wrong. Their goal is to save, and find homes for as many horses as they possibly can, and work on training those who need it so they won't end up in that position again. Roadside Diner , Omemee kicked off this year's Snow Flake Campaign just last weekend,and already they have 90 snowflakes decorating the diner. People are invited to drop into the Roadside Diner,and make a freewill donation,and fill out a snowflake.Attawapiskat Outreach – Omemee Helping Children of Attawapiskat!
Ruby’s Roost-Attawapiskat Action Centre
Attawaiskat has hit the pages of major newspapers,after the Omemee Christian Outreach meeting on Monday, Sherrie Gatenby, owner of Ruby’s Roost went online to find out more. What she found spurred her to action.
Sherrie connected with the Attawapiskat community group Attawapiskat- Making a Stand for our Children & our Elders where she read the history about what has been happening in the community. The children and seniors of the community are in dire straights,and they have been trying for several years to get a school built as shown in the video ‘Shannens Dream’ by Heartspeak Sherrie then set up a bank account at TD , and has asked people of the community to help spread the word to please bring a gift Saturday following the parade to the Christmas Concert at Coronation Hall.

Hey Farmer? Need Help?
Crop Mob Time!
Farms using ecological farming practices needing helping hands get willing hands through crop mobs this year in Ontario. Farms at Work,a central Ontario FarmON Alliance partner is piloting a Crop Mob Network. There at least 30-40 people registered in central Ontario so far, who are interested in coming out to help with harvesting or other ‘many hands’ farm work. Crop Mobs are growing in popularity in the United States,and this is the first initiative in Ontario.

Fun SickKids BrainChild Fundraiser Tonight!
5th Annual Laughing with the Lady Bugs!
Saturday night, fun will be the order of the evening, at Omemee Curling Club,15 James Street, Omemee, when people from miles around will gather to raise funds for childhood brain tumour research. Fifteen years ago, Kathryn Peeters, age four, was diagnosed with a massive brain tumour. Laughing with the Ladybugs, a local annual event, was started to mark the tenth anniversary of Kathryn’s diagnosis. Local farmers, Peter and Elizabeth Peeters were very grateful Kathryn survived and wished to help other families facing this dreaded diagnosis.

By: Harold Williams and Rosa Landry Certain dates stick in your mind like no other. For me, the first is December 3, 2009. That was the date on which I was told I had severe heart damage. The other was May 12, 2011, when I was told that I was dying.After 2 years of being misdiagnosed with lung problems, I had the good fortune of being introduced to a doctor who immediately sent me for a Stress Test. This test revealed that I had Left Ventricular Cardiomyopathy. This disease causes a weakening of the heart muscle. For me, the cause is unknown and the effect on my life, profound.
