32nd East Central Farm Show Starts Today!!

East Central Farm Show Welcomes You!

2012 East Central Farm Show takes place Wednesday March 7th, 10 am to 9:30 pm,and Thursday March 8th, 10 am to 4 pm. The 32nd East Central Farm Show will be held in the Farmers' Mutual Exhibition Building, and the Show Ring, at Lindsay Fairgrounds, 354 Angeline Street South, Lindsay, Ontario. While the Application Deadline to appear in the Show Guide was January 24, 2012, this is an excellent opportunity to find out about the latest innovations in farming,meet neighbours, and catch up on local farm news.image East Central Farm Show Flyer

FREE Admission for Soil and Crop Improvement Association Members

Admission to the East Central Farm Show is only $5 per person,but 2012 Soil and Crop Improvement Association members get in free. Soil and crop memberships went on sale earlier this year at the 2012 Soil and Crop Meeting, but you can pick up a membership at the Farm Show as well.

East Central Farm Show Historical Notes

  • 1981-Manvers Community Centre,was the site of the first show aptly named 'The Farm Show'
  • 1983 Renamed East Central Farm Show and moved to the Fenelon Hall, Cambray
  • 1992 Moved to the Morrow building, Peterborough
  • 2008 East Central District Soil and Crop Improvement Association moved the East Central Farm Show to the Farmers' Mutual Exhibition building at the new Lindsay Fairgrounds
  • 2010 The 30th East Central Farm Show had over 150 exhibitors. The Farmers' Mutual Exhibition building now has 2 wireless sound speakers,thanks to exhibitors who donated door prizes, East Central Soil and Crop Association donated $5000 towards the sound system Fall 2010.

Millbrook 7th Annual Lasies Night Lamp post Contest Girls’ Night Out themed fun in Historic Millbrook Thursday August 4th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm provides fun frivolity, while raising funds for worthwhile organizations,
Once a year, all the merchants in Millbrook get together to provide something special for women. Each year’s event is better than the last one. The 7th annual Ladies’ Night takes place in Millbrook from 4:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday August 4th. This year’s theme is Girls’ Night Out. CHEX News Watch recently highlighted some of the many activities to take place this Thursday night. Community Care Diners' Club for seniors, and purple with special needs meet regularly at ten locations throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, Diners’ Clubs (also known as Greet and Eat in some communities) provide a nutritious meal, great company, and are often accompanied by entertainment or a guest speaker. Transportation can even be arranged if required as well. So why are some people in Omemee missing out?

Omemee resident, Don Mitchell, has been waiting for the buses to run again for many years. ‘There used to be bus service that ran to Peterborough and Lindsay,’reminisces Mr. Morrison, who bought his token as soon as they were available from the Omemee Municipal Service Centre.

It’s a $3 admission for members, with the card game starting at 1 p.m. Once in a while,another event may take precedence at the Omemee Legion Fall.so it is wise to give the President, Frank Martichenko from Cavan (705) 944-5467 or Marion Wellman (705) 799-6951. Neither Frank ,nor Marion could be reached for comment at the time of posting.

Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes – Brock Riding Local politicians running for MP of meet tonight at I.E. Weldon Secondary School in Lindsay from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. hosted by BobFM and the Chamber of Commerce.

Then on Thursday, April 28.The Lindsay and District Labour Council will host an all-candidates meeting April 28.at the Royal Canadian Legion, 12 York Street, Lindsay from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

All are welcome at both of these events.

Community Care Adult Day Programs Omemee

Adult Day Programs Run Twice Weekly
Community Care Health and Support Services offers Omemee and Area Adult Day programs twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. The Adult Day program provides a safe supervised environment for people with disabilities or older adults with impairments. Trinity United Church is wheel chair accessible and has a lift for the convenience of those who have difficulties with stairs. Rides this program are also available through Community Care.
